Objects on my 2nd floor plan have normal line weight and color except with the additional objects mentioned above in grey and can also be selected and moved.

This may be an easy one but as i am currently teaching myself revit this issue is stumping me.
To prevent the floor or slab from being visible in plan view you need to adjust the bottom clip so that it is more than 4 feet above the floor or slab and set the view depth so that it does not include any part of the floor or slab.
Why are my 1st level walls and lighting fixtures seen on my 2nd level floor plan as being greyed out.
However as you are using symbolic lines in your plan representation nothing wrong with that they do not get hidden by the elements in between.
Some revit component families display above the view cut plane while others do not.
I checked the object styles and the vg menu and they are both the same as the ductwork yet appear to be greyed out see below.
I figure this has to be a discipline issue but i have it set to mechanical discipline so sho.
When a family is located above the view range cut plane but falls below the top plane the family category will determine whether it is visible or not.
The visibility of masses can be controlled by the show mass setting of the view.

Hello i seem to have a problem with my duct fittings coming in greyed out.
The generic model family category will appear in the floor plan view.
Turn on the visibility of the crop region and confirm that the element is within the extents of the crop region.
